Metal and Fur

A collection born from the desire to juxtapose two incredibly sensual materials that are fundamentally opposite.
Fur in “geometric forms,” malleable metal, playing with hot and cold.

Sacha Walckhoff used opposing textures to tame each other, bringing them together to create pieces that lie half-way between sculpture and furniture.
Heat blued steel responds to the warmth of the astrakhan hues which are brushed for texture, and the brass of the spheres is polished to give each piece a brilliant golden shine.

The exceptional savoir-faire of the Pouenat metal artists and the Terzakou furrier collaborated with Walckhoff to bring shape, volume and equilibrium to the Desk, Cube and Easy Chair.

Without allowing for one material to overpower another, the final result was a collection of ‘fur play’!

Born in France in 1962, Walckhoff spent most of his childhood in Switzerland. After studying at the School of Barcelona Arts and Fashion Techniques, he first worked in various Prêt-à-Porter fashion houses — including Jean Rémy Daumas, Dorothée Bis, and Michel Klein in 1992. That same year, he met Christian Lacroix and became his artistic consultant; their collaboration was to last for seventeen years. Initially in charge of the Prêt-à-Porter lines, he was then appointed Studio Director in 1996, and became the couturier’s right-hand man in 2002, when he created his own company. At the same time, he was also a consultant for Kenzo and Jean-Claude Jitrois, between 2000 and 2002.

When the couturier left the House of Christian Lacroix in 2009, the designer was appointed Creative Director. Since 2010, he has been the designer for the men’s Prêt-à-Porter collections, the eyewear and sunglasses lines, scarves, and leather goods, as well as the home décor line.
Passionate about art, design and decoration, Walckhoff’s own apartment in Paris – a unique space and veritable Cabinet of Curiosities – has been featured in many international interior design magazines.
Alongside his activities for Maison Christian Lacroix, he hopes to also engage in some personal projects.
