The cosmetic giant MAC is celebrating the queen of Tejano Musicโs legacy with a second makeup collection honoring the Latina superstar. Five years ago a petition circulated online lobbying MAC to create a collection inspired by Selena Quintanilla and the response was overwhelming. Over 37,000 fans signed the petition and MAC responded with a capsule collection of 90s inspired makeup. A year later in 2016, the collection sold out immediately after being launched online with a singular restock before it was just a sparkly memory. Now, a second Selena-inspired collection has finally been launched and fans better act quickly before it’s too late!
Selenaโs enduring presence even twenty-five years after her death is a remarkable statement to the young starโs impact on the world around her. This legacy and her iconic red lip and love of beauty are being celebrated in the MAC x Selena La Reina Collection. The La Reina Collection, features highlight powder, lip pencils, lip gloss, an eight-pan eyeshadow palette, tube lipsticks, and matte liquid lipsticks. Selenaโs older sister Suzette Quintanilla has been at the helm of both launches, channeling her sister’s spirit and honoring her incredible legacy. In a statement, Suzette discussed the importance of the second collection saying, “When Selena passed away, one of the three things she was working on was her clothing line, a makeup line, and a perfume line. I promised myself that by the time I leave this world, I will accomplish what she started; what she held dear to her heart.”
