The Hair Addict has been the pioneer of the natural hair movement in Egypt since their launch two years ago. During this short time, they have taken many initiatives to revolutionize this field in Egypt and The Middle East. Their latest initiative is hosting Lorraine Massey- the inventor of The Curly Girl Method to hold the very first CurlbyCurl & CG Method masterclass in the region. This anticipated event will take place on theย 15th and 16th of Aprilย in Cairo, being open to participants from different countries and different levels of experience. This event inspired many hairdressers who love natural hair, as well as people without previous styling experience that will take the training and embark on their journeys as natural hair stylists.

ย
For many years we were only familiar with getting our hair cut while it’s wet and wearing it whichever way it dries, even or uneven. The natural hair industry has grown so much in the recent past years and this was initiated by Lorraine Massey – a hair stylist that had unstoppable passion for natural hair. Lorraine Massey took the initiative and wrote a handbook explaining “The Curly Girl Method” where she advises curly girls to stay away from products that have certain ingredients and avoid some hair care practices that lead to further damage. With the great success of The Curly Girl Handbook, Lorraine started educating stylists on cutting natural hair curl by curl because one can have different curl patterns at the same time so each one needed special tending, hence the name “CurlbyCurl” was given to her classes.

ย
When she was asked about how the CurlbyCurl method emerged, Lorraine explains her story…
ย
โCurlbyCurl was created by accident when, atย 16, I was the victim of an unfortunate hair massacreย that tookย nearly 4 years to grow out.ย My very curly hair was cut wet & straight across. When it dried, one side reached myย shoulders & the other sideย stopped atย my chin.ย When Iย acknowledged the unevenness, the stylist answered:ย โHey – ย it’s even when it’s wet.โย I answered, โBut I donโt wear my hair wet. And what is wetย will eventually dry!โย That was the moment it hit me; that cutting curly hair wetย is like cutting it blindfolded.ย So, considering that curly hair has aย natural transformative spring factor, aย dramatic shape-shifting ability, andย aย dynamicย response to nature,ย I created my CurlbyCurl method.
ย
Curlbycurl is about responding to the hairย rather thanย imposingย on it.ย Respectfully cutting each curl dryย and inย a natural resting state & position. With this method, the whole experience of cutting Curls can become one of trustย and creativity.ย ย So youย and your curly client canย see a tailored shapeย emerge asย the cutย is happening.
ย
What you see is what it is!โ
