Just this week, Elie Saab Jr., the eldest son of the prominent Lebanese fashion designer, married Christina Mourad in a full-on, three-day wedding celebration. With the impeccable style we saw in the wedding pictures, we thought the fashion scoop was clearly news worthy. Fun fact: Saab Jr. was introduced to Mourad through his younger brother, Celio, who knew Mourad for years before Saab even met her.

Of course, Elie Saab has dressed many brides before but for his daughter-in-law, he gave the dress much deliberation. For a pre-wedding cocktail at Le Plateau de Bakish, Mourad first wore a piece from his Fall/Winter 2019 couture collection. It was a white dress topped with a sheer golden cape rich with the prettiest embroidery. To pull the look together, she wore a charming golden headpiece to make a statement. Perfectly enough, the inspiration behind this collection was an ideal match with the oriental vibes of the party.

For the huge extravaganza, Mourad wore an alluring wedding gown by…you guessed it – Elie Saab. This was at the church ceremony that hosted over a thousand guests at the church of Bkerki, including Chantal Thomass, Dita Von Teese, Toni Garrn, Sara Sampaio, Alina Baikova, Karolina Kurkuva, Lily Donaldson and Bianca Brandolini. Picture a sleeveless, high-neck bodice, a voluminous skirt and a 4.5m-longtrain. All head accessories were gilded with lurex and silk fabric in champagne hues. According to Vogue, this dress was ‘a labor of love’ since it was worth 80 hours of work for three artwork designers, followed by 450 hours for 12 embroiders.

The reception was then held at the high-end Faqra Club, where Mourad switched to another dress also designed by…lightly sarcastic drumroll…Saab. This one had a heart-shaped corset and a 3.5m-long skirt tail. Just imagine… a total of 150 thousand Swarovski beads were invested in this second dress.

Aside from the bride, we also need to comment on the attire worn by the mother of the groom. Claudine Saab wore an elegant pale blue, off-the-shoulder gown with a simple golden belt –no doubt, one of her husband’s designs. For the oriental party, she wore a rich blue dress with a sheer golden cape that vaguely matched her daughter-in-law’s look.
