Celebrated Artisan Louis Barthélemy Joins Narrative PR Summit 2023

Renowned artist and designer, Louis Barthélemy, has announced his participation in the upcoming Narrative PR Summit 2023, Egypt’s first international public relations forum. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Egyptian Tourism Authority and with the United Nations as the summit’s development partner, it is scheduled to take place on October 9th, 2023, at the breathtaking Somabay in the Red Sea. With the captivating theme “Egypt Forever Forward,” this remarkable event will showcase a stellar lineup of distinguished local and international speakers, solidifying Egypt’s prominence on the global stage.

Capitalizing on his influential international presence, Barthélemy will bring invaluable insights to the summit, focusing on the art of creative crafts in his speech titled, Egypt Between its Ancient History and Contemporary Culture, an Eye on Design. Additionally, he will shed light on how these crafts can be effectively utilized to bolster Egyptian tourism, by creating art that draws inspiration from the rich culture and ancient civilization of Egypt. This aligns perfectly with Barthélemy’s unwavering commitment to preserving and reviving traditional crafts that face challenges in the face of globalization.

Barthélemy, based between Marrakech, Cairo and Paris, not only cooperates with traditional artisans from around the globe but also plays a vital role in promoting their work. This includes a wide range of products such as handmade housewares, embroidered tapestries, silk scarves, and leather shoes. Through his collaborations, he effectively demonstrates the artisans’ exceptional expertise and craftsmanship to diverse corners of the world.
Driven by a deep fascination for Egyptian culture, Barthélemy took the initiative to forge collaborations with traditional artisans hailing from Cairo, the Nile Delta, and the remote Berber oasis of Siwa. This initial endeavor paved the way for further creative partnerships with artisans working across a diverse range of mediums in Morocco, Lebanon, and Syria.

In May 2023, Barthélemy held his latest tapestry exhibition at the Museum of Cotton in Cairo. His artwork has been displayed in numerous esteemed national institutions, captivating a sizable audience that deeply appreciates this increasingly rare art form.
