The Italian luxury label Fendi has taken a deep dive into streetwear with their newest collaboration. For their Spring/Summer 2020 collection, 31-year-old LA-based artist Joshua Vides was commissioned to add his one-of-a-kind touch to the line. Known for his black and white signature style, each of the items in the capsule collection was designed by creative director Silvia Fendi and finished off with some extra special Vides flair. 

The “California Sky” collection is comprised of a range of designs in a monochromatic color scheme. Inspired by the SoCal sky and the intoxicating streets of Los Angeles —the partnership is unique and somewhat unexpected. The “California Sky” capsule is a refreshing collaboration for the 95-year-old brand and gives off some serious summer vibes. In an interview discussing the working relationship Vides said, “It’s moments like this when I’m able to remind myself that every loss, failure and wrong decision I’ve made in my career has led me here. Anything is possible.”

While fashionistas are surely familiar with Fendi; the talented Joshua Vides has already worked with the design house to create a pop-up cafe, and a bag-customizing bar at the iconic Harrods department store last year. His go-to medium is Sharpie, yes the simple permanent black marker is the medium for his incredible work. He may be new to the high-end world of fashion Vides has already partnered with big-brands like Google, Nike, and Woolrich. Each piece of the hyper-seasonal collection embodies California nights and the free-spirited days of summer. Chic, whimsical, and street-savvy the capsule collection includes Fendi favorites as well as ready-to-wear pieces, hats, sneakers, sandals, bathing suits, and more.
