The ‘Cordelia’ Collection by Jude Benhalim

In celebration of Jude Benhalim’s tenth-year anniversary, the local iconic jewellery brand is introducing a brand new timeless collection, ‘Cordelia’. The name means, “jewel of the sea,” symbolizing the untold, abundant creative expression of sea life. Drawing inspiration from the variety of natural shapes and colors found in the deep, this unique, versatile collection features an assortment of corals and shells, in all of their unstructured glory.

Within the creative process, it seems that Jude made a direct link between the amazing mystery and adventure of the deep sea, and the treasures carried in our hearts – whether hopes or dreams – as we live within the hustle of our everyday lives. With this particular collection, Jude is hoping to emphasize the need to slow down every once in a while, to rediscover the color and passion buried in our own lives.

What we love, and is very emblematic of the brand, is the fact that this collection is packed with statement pieces that you can flaunt on a fancy occasion or on a regular day when you want to add a little edge to an otherwise minimal outfit. Delicately handcrafted with sterling silver, the Cordelia pieces are brass-dipped in 18k gold and adorned with custom made resin stones. More than that, the resin stone pieces represent a myriad of colors, reflecting the hues you would naturally come across as you behold sea life, such as mint green, rust orange and cerulean blue.

If we were to look closely, we would also notice the endless different lines and forms found in corals and shells. Each one carries a very special, individual identity, and that’s exactly what Jude wanted to mirror in the cutout detailing you can spot in the jewellery., while also capturing “the cascading layers and fluid waves found in coral reefs.”

For the social media campaign, Jude Benhalim collaborated with the up-an-coming Arab illustrator Mariam Ajami to create an exceptional animated collage that tells the story of Cordelia and portrays the beauty found in the deep sea.
