Inspired by the world, Indira Jewelry Launches Geo Line

By  |

Inspired by local artisans while perfecting her craft in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and New York, Indira’s designer Marwa Saadawi created her new collection titled Geo. Each piece reflects an aspect of her multicultural lifestyle and diverse interactions with different parts of the world. Much of the jewelry involves multifaceted constructions, and mechanical movements.

For the first time, Indira introduced gold to its collection, mixing silver and gold vermeil with bold and striking pearls in white, blue and green colors. The Geo line features sea green and blue, iridescent colors reflecting the flow of the waves from the Mediterranean Sea, representing the intersection of ancient and contemporary lifestyles.

Indira’s signature Mother of Pearl shell is featured along with hints of gold vermeil, and freshwater pearls. The collection’s fine sterling silver pieces are designed, assembled and hand-finished in its Cairo studio, using only the finest sterling silver and vermeil gold, as well as responsibly sourced fresh water pearls and mother of pearl shells.

Marwa was waiting for the right moment to collaborate with Amina Khalil.

For her Geo line, Marwa chose the It girl of the moment, popular Egyptian actress Amina Khalil to model the collection. Amina is known for supporting young Egyptian designers. Combined with her love for silver jewelry, it for a perfect match. When Marwa showed Amina the new pieces she said “yalla beena.”!

Ghufran, Indira’s art director and Marwa decided they wanted to show Amina in her natural light to allow her effortless beauty to shine within a simple lens. Marwa asked Amina to simply do her hair and makeup as if she were getting ready for the day, and to bring comfy fall clothing. And just like that a mini shoot of Amina, her doggie, a cup of coffee, and some jewels came about.

Another shoot took place featuring Naila Marie, an underground singer and fine artist/illustrator who recently reached 10 million listens of her song “Give a Little,” and is preparing for her upcoming solo exhibition featuring 20 pieces, named Pachamama.

The setting of both shoots was in Naila’s home. Naila Marie and Amina Khalil in Marwa’s eyes are the epitome of what the Indira woman embodies – inside beauty and grace.
