In light of Safer Internet Day, TikTok sheds light on Safety guidelines and features on the platform

In line with the goals of Safer Internet Day, TikTok, the world’s leading video and entertainment platform, organized a unique experience to highlight its safety and wellbeing features to support TikTok community and netizens. In order to provide a fun and inclusive environment which makes it safer for users to engage, create, inspire, and connect. Additionally, TikTok continuously provides parents with tools for a larger degree of control and oversight for their teens’ activities on the platform.

During the event, TikTok, through many edutainment activities, shed light on the various safety and wellbeing features available on the platform, such as Screen Time Management tool, in addition to the platform’s community guidelines and enforcement measures such as the transparency report.

Moreover, the activities emphasized the family pairing mode, which enables parents to link their TikTok account to their teen’s account and customize their safety settings ensuring a safe experience. This feature is part of TikTok’s ongoing efforts toward supporting parents by providing them the necessary tools to monitor their teens. 

Building on TikTok’s ongoing efforts to create a safe community, TikTok is constantly implementing and developing various safety-related features curated to users’ needs such as the “Restricted Mode” feature, through which it allows limiting the appearance of content that may not be appropriate for you. In addition to the “Direct Messages” feature that allows users to control who sends them messages, and is only available for users who are 16 years and older – it is also one of the features that parents can restrict or turn off through Family Pairing. 

Furthermore, the platform provides more features, including filtering comments; where users have the opportunity to make a custom list of keywords that will be automatically blocked from any comments on their videos.
