Confirmed, No Met Gala This Year!

The vicious spread of Covid-19 across the globe forces the postponement of this year’s Met Gala till further notice.

Graciously and significantly spoken of as “fashion’s biggest extravaganza”, the Met Gala is the apex of all there is to the a la mode style. Annually; the Met Gala, a solicit fundraising asset ball for the Metropolitan Museum of Art based in New York City, takes place usually by May 6th. With this year’s theme, About Time: Fashion & Duration, celebrities, designers and fashion epitomes were looking forward to showcase their collabs for the annual opening ceremony of the attire institute expedition sponsored by the leisure couturier Louis Vuitton and hosted by Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. 

The museum made a formal announcement of delaying the highly anticipated ball this year without giving a specific time to re-open. “Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will be postponed to a later date,” says Wintour. In an attempt to prevent the overwhelming gatherings, the museum reported to the CNN News that they are not willing to compromise the health of its attendees.

Due to major intensive conditions and health responsibilities, the Met Gala, Los Angeles Fashion Week along with some major shows happening till the last of April are to be hindered in order to avoid putting anyone at risk till the current situation gets under control. The only-invite prestigious happening was set-to take place this year with bigger standards than the previous one where in 2019, the Met Gala raised more than fifteen million dollars for the fashion convention.
