Flair Magazine Known famously for her jet-set style and love for lavish jewels, Elizabeth Taylor was patently recognized as a fashion icon, mainly during the sixties and seventies. In 1997, she actually received a Lifetime of Glamour Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), which brings us to our current story… Recently, items have been picked from her prized wardrobe be auctioned off in December 2019.
Not only are her prominent designer pieces up for auction, Taylor’s fine art and décor items will also hit the block. What we know is that her black, rhinestone-studded Versace leather jacket will be in the collection, along with her pale blue Edith Head gown, which was worn to the premiere of That’s Entertainment in 1974 is estimated at 4000 to 6000 dollars. Not to mention her iconic Cartier bracelets, which we can sit and admire all day long.
Another piece worth mentioning is the emerald green Givenchy suit that Taylor wore to an aids fundraiser in 1987, estimated at 2000 to 3000 dollars. All of those items are currently on a transatlantic crossing as part of an exhibition on the Queen Mary 2 luxury cruise ship.
Held at Julien’s Auctions in California, the main event will take place starting December 6th to the 8th.
