One of Egypt’s most popular designers Mohanad Kojak, in sponsorship with DHL, will be participating in Fashion Forward Dubai’s 10th season. During it he will be showcasing Kojak’s latest collection, ‘Rage of the Angels’

The collection is inspired by genocide, the crime of deliberately destroying a group of people, based on their race, ethnicity, nationality or religion. However, the collection’s interpretation of the act doesn’t come from the literal meaning of the word, but takes us beyond the physical crime of extermination. ‘Rage of the Angels’ symbolizes the societal suffering groups of people face by the hands of others, leading to a social form of genocide.

The inspiration behind this collection stands in contrast to the prior collection, which drew inspiration from Rococo architecture with its delicate finesse, giving way to the free expression of love and harmony. This contrast was created through Kojak’s interpretation of his own heavenly, rosy view of the world, embodied in his previous collection versus the reality shown through ‘Rage of the Angels.’

The most eye-catching trait of this collection is its color palette, which is mostly red, with accents of pink, as well as black and white. Red is a color that isn’t often used by Kojak, whose palette generally incorporates mellower colors and pastels. The collection contrasts Kojak’s typical soft and dreamy silhouettes with the bold color to bring forward the inspiration behind the collection. Kojak relied in this collection primarily on lace, tulle and taftan fabrics, reflecting a certain delicate persona that is symbolized through angels.
