The 411 on Eyebrow Lamination

By  |

Eyebrows are hard to perfect so many people are turning to more permanent solutions to have their brows Instagram-ready. If you are one of the few genetically blessed to have great brows then a little tweezing, filling, or outlining might be all you need to do but what about the rest of us? Over the last few years, many women have opted to go down the microblading or micro feathering route which is often expensive, painful, and requires weeks of aftercare to optimize results. If you want to give your brows a boost there is a new trend available for those who want a less permanent and less painful option for killer brows. The hottest new beauty craze—eyebrow lamination is a semi-permanent solution. Like most beauty trends it is sometimes hard to know what is best for you. Here is the 411 on everything you need to know about eyebrow lamination in order to make an informed decision about how to best rock your brows.

What exactly is eyebrow lamination?  So, the word lamination gives the wrong impression, and trust us, this doesn’t involve any kindergarten teachers and plastic-coated paper. Brow lamination, aka “permanent soap brows” originated in Russia and became popular around the world because the procedure gives the appearance of bolder brows without tattooing and minimal maintenance. Essentially, brows are manipulated into a specific style and brushed upwards, and held in place using a setting lotion—similar to a perm for your eyebrows.

But, does it hurt? Unlike microblading, brow lamination is pain-free. The process takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour and involves a colored tint customized to your liking, shaping, a setting lotion, and hydrating oil. This (relatively simple) process gives instant results so if you are on the fence about changing your brows there is no better time to try!

Okay, what is the aftercare like? A huge issue with invasive procedures is the ridiculous aftercare process. Many people avoid cosmetic procedures due to the rigorous and timely healing process. Unlike microblading, brow lamination has a very simple aftercare process that requires brows to stay dry for 24 hours. During this time brows need to be kept water, sweat, and makeup-free. After this period brows will be set and ready to hit the town.
