Rebel Cairo Serves Summer Vibes With New Collection

By  |

A scarf is the quintessential accessory; regardless of the season, a great scarf can transform clothes into a memorable outfit. Rebel Cairo continues to break the mold with their newest collection—bold prints, eye-catching patterns, and more pieces to transform your “OOD” into a signature style. In celebration of the summer season, we caught up with Rebel Cairo to discuss their new collection Shatea RebelCairo.

It has been a while since we spoke, can you tell Flair readers about some of Rebel’s important milestones?

This year, we really evolved as a brand. In terms of impactful features, our Marrakech scarf appeared on Hend Sabri for Vogue Arabia’s September issue which was dedicated to women, Sarrah Abdel Rahman appeared at the Gouna Film Festival in our beach set and Khaled El Nabawy appeared in our custom-made scarves for the Egyptian Pharaohs Golden Parade. We also had a very fruitful year in terms of artist and brand collaborations. We collaborated with artist Yousef Sabry on velvet scarves and pocket squares which were photographed on some of Cairo’s favorite creatives and Nelly Karim. We also collaborated with UNTY on several items, one of which was a designed rug that ended up being sold at an auction for 10,800 EGP which was all donated to Palestine. We also introduced new lines alongside our signature scarves.

What inspired your Summer 2021 collection?

The inspiration behind our summer 2021 collection was imagining a parallel “Shatea’” meaning seashore, which we named “Shatea RebelCairo.” It is a manifestation of our memories of summer (which is our favorite season.) It’s a super playful collection that was more about happy moments we await each summer rather than complex concepts which we tackle in other collections.

Shatea Rebel Cairo is full of “new ideas, new techniques, and new possibilities.” Can you elaborate on this sentiment?

Sure! The design and production process is one of the main pillars of the brand. We care about it and we’re constantly searching for new ways of creating and developing. This summer collection was our biggest one yet. We introduced new product lines which were possible because of newly learned production techniques. All items were ethically made with close contact with the workshops we work with.

Who do you dream of seeing in one of your scarves?

No one in particular, actually! I just always hope that whoever wears it feels good in it.

What are your favorite ways to style a scarf for summer?

Different ways of styling look super pretty on different people but my personal favorite would be wrapping it as a cache maillot, halter dress, or a triangle top.
