Lady Gaga to star in the movie ‘House of Gucci’

A century later, Gucci is one of the most remarkable and well-known designer names across the world. Gucci’s dedicated and passionate spirit and desire to create items that last forever is the driving force of the unique Florentine label.

The Gucci skills have been passed down from one generation to another, from hand-stitching handles to preparing leather strips for stitching. It’s been almost a decade since the Gucci Museum was opened in the Palazzo della Mercanzia in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. It brings people closer to the iconic pieces that created the legacy of the Maison, starting from leather products to magnificent dresses worn by international actresses, and lastly to the new Fiat 500.

The immortal reputation of Gucci is a result of the label staying true to its origin and keeping its tradition alive of Italian craftsmanship and fashion authority. As mentioned above, the skills were passed down the generations, from Guccio Gucci to Rodolfo Gucci to Maurizio Gucci, whose murder inspired ‘House of Gucci’, an upcoming American biographical crime film directed by Ridley Scott, based on the 2001 book ‘The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed’ by Sara Gay Forden.

A little recap of the year 1972, Patrizia Reggiani, an Italian socialite, married Maurizio Gucci – the grandson of Guccio Gucci. Together with over the years, they fought many battles for full control over Gucci and won. The marriage fell apart once Maurizio claimed he was going on a business trip to Florence when in fact he had permanently abandoned the family for his younger lover.

In addition to that -after the couple split-, Maurizio sold the brand to Bahrain-based firm Investcorp for approximately £150 million, which was a huge failure. As a result, Patrizia Reggiani hired a hitman to shoot Maurizio in his office lobby near Milan’s fashion district. Patrizia, known as the Black Widow as called by the press, was the first suspect, then consequently received a 26-year prison sentence for her role in the death.

Back to reality, Lady Gucci currently lives in Milan, where she was seen hitting the streets with her pet macaw, Bo, on her shoulder. However, Lady Gaga announced being in a tiny Italian Alps village on Instagram, where she shared a very aesthetically pleasing picture with actor Adam Driver, captioned: “Signore e Signora Gucci”. It was that moment when we knew that Lady Gaga plays the role of Patrizia Reggiani, while Adam Driver is to be her ill-fated husband, Maurizio Gucci. It was recently announced that Patrizia Reggiani was annoyed that Lady Gaga didn’t meet her yet as she is playing her in the movie.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that the movie is very highly anticipated. The project has been in Scott’s plans for over a decade. Luckily, now it’s full and cooking. The movie stars Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto, Jack Huston, and Reeve Carney, and many more. Filming began in early 2021 and the release date is to be on 24 November 2021 for the USA and 26 November 2021 confirmed for the UK. It was the year 1921 when Guccio Gucci, a Florentine artisan, took a life-changing decision and opened his very first leather goods and small luggage store.

While working at the Savoy Hotel in London, he was quite observant of the English nobility which inspired him to return to Italy and apply his outstanding craftsman skills to the classy style of the nobles. His passion and dedication resulted in his immediate success, especially with the sophisticated jet-setters on vacation in Florence, who were mainly looking for quality riding gear, consequently, Gucci expanded the label with more equestrian-inspired bags, shoes, trunks, gloves, and belts.
