How to Stay Healthy During Quarantine – Mentally, Emotionally & Physically

By  |

Granted, self-isolation can be a bit boring but it doesn’t have to be all that bad. There is no need to wake up during ungodly hours to head to work when your office is now your living room and now you finally have time to actually make breakfast in the morning. Not to mention, all the things you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t had much time for – working out, watching a new series, reading a new book or trying out a new skincare routine.

We are here to inspire you to make the most out of your time at home, while making sure you stay happy and healthy. Here are six ways to keep yourself occupied and pampered.

Follow a daily routine

If you are working from home, keep your days as structured as they would be if you were still going to the office everyday. Wake up early, get your coffee and start your day. Keeping a routine will allow you to be productive and feel like you’re not wasting away your days. If you’ve already messed up your sleep cycle, that’s okay. Set an alarm everyday and do your best not to snooze until after 10 am.

Stay connected

Emotional health tip: don’t disconnect from people. This is the time to solidify friendships and relationships with the people you live with. Make the most out of social media. Carve out time in your day to Facetime your best friend or connect with your group on Zoom calls. Join an Instagram Live or message and reconnect with someone you haven’t spoken to in a while. Go crazy and learn a new dance on TikTok to share with your friends.

Try something new

What better time to try a new hobby or learn something new? There are plenty of educational courses available online – for free even. Whether you decide to study something within your current field or take up something completely new, this is a great way to keep your mind engaged during quarantine. This can be something fun like fiction writing, painting or even ballet.

Bring the spa home to you

Time and time again, making time to look after yourself has been proven to boost your mental health and immune system, which is so important at the moment. Give yourself a facial, apply some mask treatment to your hair and take a bath with scented salts and candles. Sit back, relax and allow your skin the chance to glow again.

Stay active

You can’t stay in your bed all day, everyday. Although this might sound like paradise for some of us, it’s simply not good for you. Get your summer body ready now. Although you can’t go to the gym, go for a run or train your favorite sport at the club, there are still ways you can stay active in your own space at home. It is now easier than ever to find home workout routines online. Subscribe to an app or follow a fitness influencer who will give you practical tips on social media. If you’re into ballet or gymnastics, do your stretches on a mat like you would at the studio.

Get a daily dose of fresh air

If you’re lucky enough to have your own garden or balcony, then make the most of it. Spend some time outside each day to get a daily dose of oxygen and vitamin D. This will help you to stay refreshed and help you stop feeling confined to your home. And of course, like your mom says, don’t forget to hydrate and drink lots of water.
