Hayden Launches New Spring/Summer Collection

Hayden launched yesterday a striking new spring/summer collection titled I am Venus. The collection is inspired by Shaddy Ellian’s interpretation of the Roman goddess Venus. The launching party was hosted at Ora Restobar with an elegant set up for a red carpet and an open bar. Dressed in black and white attire, guests were free to mingle and roam around admiring a glass-box gallery showcasing the collection.

When asked about the brand name, Ellian told us, “I wanted the brand name to be connected to the females buying my jewelry. Hayden is the name of a real woman who has cancer but doesn’t let it get to her. She’s strong and powerful and looks at cancer like it’s nothing she should even fear. That’s why I really connected to her story. I want every woman to feel that powerful and perfect wearing my jewelry.”

About his emergence in the Egyptian jewelry scene, he said, “It was hard because most jewelry you’ll find in Egypt is trying to make a statement and to cite something historical and old. Many jewelry designers here haven’t reached that level where they can offer sketches catering to couture designers. I have a lot of clients who come to me with detailed requirements and I make that true for them.

“What makes my designs stand out is that I don’t only focus on making something that looks good but something that has a story behind it.”

Commenting about the inspiration behind his new collection, he replied, “I immersed myself in the era of Venus and I envisioned how people relate to her, how she talks and what she looks like. I visualized her face outline and I sketched it myself.”

When asked about his favorite piece, “I can’t pick a favorite because if you ask me, I will tell you one piece is best worn in the morning and the other at night or depending on a certain occasion.”

“Every single place I go to is an inspiration to me. Every single mood I feel is an inspiration to me. My surroundings always affect my design process.”
