Givenchy’s Signature 4G Handbag

Having caught the spotlight as it debuted in Givenchy’s Pre-Fall 2021 collection, the latest essential handbag by creative director Matthew M. Williams is called ‘the 4G’. What stands out about this one is its sleek architectural lines and its rather unique personality. While it maintains the timeless, perfectionist symmetry that marks Hubert de Givenchy’s name, this new design also reflects the fresh, modern aesthetic that Williams has brought to the House.

Your first impression of the 4G will probably be to notice the masterful, delicate leatherwork. In order to create a cosmopolitan, graphic update on the signature rectangular handbag, Williams worked with Givenchy craftsmen to set aside premium full-grain box calf skins. As a tribute to his love for industrial hardware, you can see how meticulously the clasps were made with such technical details, that even the sound of magnets in the padlock fastening together nods to the trendy utilitarian yet uncompromisingly luxurious theme this handbag brings to life.

There are two 4G styles – a flap bag and a chain bag. Effortlessly versatile, the 4G can seamlessly transform from a clutch to a shoulder or crossbody bag. While the 4G flap bag comes with an elegant, removable strap, the 4G chain bag highlights the House’s new iconic G-link chain in silver or gold finished metal.

Offered in a myriad of colors, the 4G is available in neutral black, ivory, cappuccino beige, avocado green, baby pink, red and dark khaki. That way, you get to pick from a whole variety, including a neutral palette and seasonal colors. Special details set the 4G apart, including an all-over 4G monogram, which is debossed on leather to create a three-dimensional effect in ivory, pink or black. As for the patent leather versions that come with a crinkled finish, you will find them available in black and sky blue. Moreover, there is the iconic snake print, where the material is lambskin, creating a real impression of exotic leather. Last but definitely not our least favorite, there is the dark emerald green python version with gold hardware.

Of course, you wouldn’t be surprised to find that the interior of each 4G bag is as pretty as it is practical. Even the small 4G flap bag features a main compartment for your essentials, along with a flat pocket where you can store important cards. As for the medium 4G flap bag, it comes with two flat pockets and one card pocket for convenient use. On the other hand, the 4G chain bag comes with a compartment with six card slots and one flat pocket for the small version. This or you get another option with the medium bag, which has a spacious interior with a single flat pocket.
