Frozen in Time

You will want to look twice to figure out whether it is still or in motion…and you will also want to touch it to make sure you won’t get your hands wet. The table is made out of clear polished Plexiglas and appears to be transforming from static to fluid by the waves and ripples that appear under the surface. The legs of the table look like they’re pouring horizontally…a whirlwind frozen in time.

The four-part dining table made its debut at the David Gill Gallery in London. Hadid admitted to its resemblance to the studio’s past tables saying, “ you can’t reinvent the wheel everyday.”

The table comes at a shocking price of $375,000 where each one is handmade in Italy on demand.

Celebrating Hadid’s furniture, this liquid glacial table was added to the short list of furniture at the London’s Design Museum. Additionally, Hadid’s Galaxy Soho complex in Beijing has been nominated for the Architecture Award alongside her other creations including Nike’s FlyKnit trainers and Heatherwick Studio’s Olympic Cauldron.
