Founded in 1923, El Baz Jewelry is a family legacy built on passion and endless artistic vision for fine jewelry. Providing an ideal blend of luxury and art, the brand is now catching spotlight after relaunching this year with a more modern appeal. We talked to managing partner Youssef El Baz to learn more about their gorgeous collections and charming store experience.

What makes El Baz Jewelry stand out from other local brands?

Having decades of expertise in the jewellery industry definitely gives us an edge on all fronts – from trading to design and manufacturing. We’re always keen on bringing unique collectibles and never-seen-before designs to the table, while presenting the highest levels of excellence and quality through our customer experience and journey. We believe in developing a personal connection with our clients as they also develop an emotional connection with our jewellery creations.

How do you go about collecting your pieces?

We are very selective when it comes to our collections. Each piece is curated for every season, featuring the finest HRD-certified diamonds in clarity, cut and color, impeccable stones, South Sea and Akoya pearls. 

When collecting or designing our creations, we like to take risks with the looks we create, always searching for what’s different and new. We’re constantly researching trends, designs and materials, and traveling around the world to pursue them. 

Our Hodel Collection, for example, is a handpicked selection of Swan creations, designed around exquisite baroque pearls. Each Swan creation is tailored to its stone, with complementing red sapphires in 18KT gold. Other pearl collectibles also feature South Sea and Akoya pearls of unique shapes and rich silver-lipped lusters.

Our Botanical collection is a selection of bespoke designs inspired by the wondrous beauty of nature, featuring butterfly and botanical-themed designs adorned in diamonds, round Tahitian and Akoya Pearls.

What is your personal favorite collection? Why?

Definitely, The Pearl Collection. It’s a beautiful celebration of the highest-grade pearls, featuring passe-partout creations adorned with Akoya, South Sea and Tahitian Pearls. We’ve also received amazing feedback from our clients on this particular collection, amongst others.

Tell us about your unique store experience.

It’s vital for our luxury brand experience that when a client walks into our store, they feel comfortable and special. Buying fine jewelry is an experience in itself, and we aim to make the experience of buying El Baz Jewelry one that you would not find easily in the local market. You’ll find art projected in every corner at our store. Every showcase has a special visual merchandising concept that tells the story and inspiration of the creations displayed.

Do you have any plans coming up?

We were originally planning a grand store opening earlier this March. However, we had to hold our plans due to Covid-19 and our community’s safety. We’re currently focusing on launching new collections, which we can’t wait to unveil very soon.
