Our first stop led us to the iconic Dubai Festival City Mall, a sprawling haven of retail therapy and entertainment. As we marveled at the stunning light shows and vibrant atmosphere, we were reminded of Dubai’s penchant for grandeur and spectacle. With over 1,200 retail stores and an array of entertainment options, the mall captivated our senses and ignited our sense of wonder. From haute couture boutiques to the vibrant energy of The Village, every corner of the mall exuded an aura of sophistication and style.

Situated along the picturesque Dubai Creek, Festival City boasts a lineup of renowned hotels such as the InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and Crowne Plaza, ensuring that luxury and comfort are always within reach.

With operating hours extending from 10 am to 10 pm Monday through Thursday and 10 am to 1 am Friday through Sunday, the mall presents an extensive selection of over 350 stores, including iconic retailers like Ikea Dubai and Marks & Spencer, alongside popular brands such as H&M, DKNY, and Charles & Keith. Our journey through Dubai Mall was a feast for the senses. From the chic boutiques of Fashion Avenue to the bustling atmosphere of the Gold Souk, every corner held a treasure waiting to be discovered. The allure of international brands like Versace and Burberry captivated our attention, while the promise of the latest footwear trends at Level Shoes added a touch of excitement to our adventure.

Dubai Mall wasn’t just about shopping; it was a playground of entertainment for the whole family. From the mesmerizing Dubai Aquarium to the exhilarating Dubai Ice Rink, there was no shortage of thrills and excitement. We found ourselves captivated by the enchanting indoor fountain and enchanted by The Village’s retractable roof, which offered a glimpse of the starlit sky.

As evening descended, we indulged in culinary delights that tantalized our taste buds. With over 200 dining options, ranging from casual eateries to fine dining establishments, Dubai Mall catered to every palate. The breathtaking views of The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa from restaurants like Joe’s Café and Novikov Café added an extra layer of magic to our dining experience.

Culinary Odyssey: From Carnival by Trèsind to Shang Palace

Our culinary odyssey continued with a visit to Carnival by Trèsind which offers a culinary journey unlike any other. This sister venue to the renowned Trèsind presents a fusion of contemporary twists and traditional Indian cuisine, enhanced by the artistry of molecular gastronomy. As we stepped into the chic venue adorned with striking black and white chevron floors and illuminated copper-colored trees, we were greeted by an ambiance that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

The menu at Carnival by Trèsind reflects a modern and vibrant approach to Indian gastronomy while preserving the essence of its culinary heritage. Indulge in the famous Game of Corns dish, featuring a delightful combination of sweet corn-curd and coconut, complemented by goji berry chutney and Japanese mayonnaise. Alternatively, savor the vada pav, a quintessential street food from Mumbai consisting of a fried potato patty nestled between bread with flavorful chutney.

For those seeking an elevated dining experience, the 15-course degustation menu offers a curated selection of culinary delights, available with or without meat. The staff at Carnival by Trèsind prioritize guest satisfaction and take allergies seriously, ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience for all patrons.

Shang Palace 

Meanwhile, Shang Palace at Shangri-La stands as the epitome of authentic Cantonese cuisine in the heart of the city. Following its reopening in January 2020 with a refreshed ambiance and reinvented menu, Shang Palace has solidified its reputation as the signature Cantonese restaurant for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts worldwide.

Under the guidance of Executive Chinese Chef Peter Lau, Shang Palace offers an extensive menu featuring unique dishes that harmoniously blend tradition with contemporary culinary techniques. Chef Lau’s expertise shines through as he showcases provincial flavors and introduces Dubai to a refined Chinese dining experience.

Shang Palace’s commitment to excellence has been recognized with a Michelin Guide Recommendation for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023, underscoring its status as a culinary destination of choice for discerning diners. Meanwhile, our culinary journey led us to Señor Pico, a culinary oasis steeped in history and flavor. Founded by Victor ‘Trader Vic’ Bergeron in 1964, Señor Pico beckoned us with its tantalizing blend of early Californian/Mexican cuisine and expertly crafted cocktails. Inspired by Bergeron’s adventures in Mexico, each dish was a testament to authenticity, bursting with flavors and ingredients that paid homage to the rich heritage of Mexican cuisine. From signature cocktails like the Mexican Zombie to classic favorites, every sip and bite was a celebration of tradition and taste, inviting us to savor the essence of Mexico with each indulgent moment.

Virgin Izakaya

Nestled on the picturesque Bluewaters Island, Virgin Izakaya emerges as a modern izakaya-style dining destination, enticing visitors with excitement and entertainment. Embracing a commitment to providing a fusion of traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine, the restaurant invited us to embark on a tantalizing culinary journey crafted by Executive Chef Evgeniy Pesin and his expert team.

Virgin Izakaya’s menu is a testament to its dedication to serving dishes using fresh and quality ingredients. From raw delicacies such as sashimi, tataki, tiradito, and hand rolls to kushiyaki skewers of octopus or chicken with Japanese mustard, the offerings tantalize taste buds and redefine Japanese dining. At the heart of the restaurant lies the robata grill, where ingredients are transformed into spectacular dishes like the Caramelized Miso Eggplant, Wagyu Steak, Bluefin Tuna Steak, Broccoli Miso, and Beef & Foie Gras Gyoza.

Boasting the best views of Dubai’s JBR beaches and Marina skyline, Virgin Izakaya provides an electric atmosphere suitable for any occasion. Whether it’s after-work drinks, a spot for shisha, or a lively ladies’ night, the restaurant’s modern Japanese industrial ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Every Wednesday, Virgin Izakaya caters to the women of Dubai with their ladies’ night deal starting from 8pm, Joshi-Kai. 

At Virgin Izakaya, every dish tells a story, every sip paints a picture, and every moment is infused with the spirit of Japanese culinary excellence. It’s not just a dining experience; it’s a journey of gastronomic delight set against the vibrant backdrop of Dubai’s skyline.

Dream Dubai

Our visit culminated with a soirée to Dream Dubai, a theatrical extravaganza that captivated our senses and ignited our imagination. As we journeyed through the epochs of history, from ancient times up to the vibrant energy of Burlesque, we were transported to a world of wonder. With its grand stage, larger-than-life props, and electrifying performances, Dream Dubai offered a glimpse into the boundless possibilities of entertainment and artistry.

The lineup of artists and international acts added an electric atmosphere to the air, making each moment feel even more magical. And the culinary experience was nothing short of spectacular, with fresh ingredients tantalizing our taste buds at every turn.

As the sun set over the glittering Dubai skyline, we found ourselves immersed in the magic of Dream Dubai, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Attiko

Our final evening in Dubai was spent amidst the glittering skyline of JBR, at the iconic rooftop destination, Attiko. Against the backdrop of the Dubai Harbour and Palm Jumeirah, we reveled in the vibrant energy of the city, savoring every moment of our unforgettable journey.

Saturdays at Attiko come alive with the electrifying energy of open-air parties under the stars. From 8PM until the early hours, guest DJs and live performances create an atmosphere of pure enchantment against the backdrop of the sparkling Dubai skyline.
