Away x Serena Williams Collection

By  |

Serena Williams is making moves on and off the court. For a woman who needs no introduction or further accolades she is doing it in style and her newest venture is a partnership with Away, the uber-Instagrammable luggage company. Together Williams and the brand have created a collection that is perfect for jet setters, weekend warriors or those heading to watch a tennis match.

Away has partnered with other high-profile celebrities in the past and has now partnered with the American tennis superstar for her unique take on modern travel. Away’s co-founder and Chief Brand Officer, Jen Rubio said, “Serena defines today’s modern traveler, and her dynamic, multi-faceted lifestyle perfectly mirrors the essence of our brand and what Away stands for. Serena’s unique perspective on travel, combined with her natural eye for design, has made her an invaluable partner for us. With this collaboration, we’re looking forward to giving people a window into this side of Serena, shedding light on the habits, rituals and experiences with travel that shape who she is.”

Williams is more than just a sports superstar but a feminist icon that has paved the way for female athletes around the globe. With 23 Grand Slam wins, 73 singles titles at the Auckland Classic, a new baby, and a 24-7 body-positive ambassador she continues to redefine modern femininity. Williams is not afraid of hard work and rather than just throwing her name on the label but she co-designed the debut line with the Away team. The brand’s signature suitcases come in Rouge (yes, a bright cherry red) in both the soft-side expandable collection as well as the traditional hard-side suitcases. What about the specs? Well, a seasoned traveler wouldn’t create a line that was cute but not practical. Each of the suitcases come with a unique camo interior (Williams’ favorite print), 360- degree wheels, TSA approved locks and lifetime warranties.

The good news is that this is not a one-time collaboration, the Away x Serena Williams partnership is ongoing, so there will be quite a few new releases coming in the future.
