9 Ways to Show Some Self-Love on Valentine’s Day

By  |

Valentines is the one day a year you get to show that special someone how much you love them. However, many forget that the specialist someone in our lives is the man in the mirror- yourself! Self-love and care are things we tend to forget about in our everyday life. Single or taken, it’s important to love yourself before anyone else. This Valentine’s day, remind yourself of how great you are by doing any of the following activities!

Buy that item you’ve had your eye on

From a fancy new top to an automatic beater, get that one item you feel that you have needed for the longest time, but just haven’t gotten around to getting. If its expensive, save up for it ahead of time so that you can gift it to yourself on Valentine’s day.

Have an at home spa day

Nothing says self-love more than self-care. With the internet at your disposal, you have access to millions of DIY at home spa ideas, weather creating a homemade face mask, or sitting in a bath with flower petals, it’s hard to go wrong with a personalized spa day, made for you by you.

Buy yourself flowers and chocolate

Valentines day is famous for sales of the classic flowers and chocolate pairing, which means there are discounts galore! Take advantage of the sale and stock up on chocolate while brightening up your home with flowers.

Go get a full makeover

Nothing is more fun than a makeover. That Cinderella feeling after glamming up is one of the most special in the world. So why not dedicate a day to getting the haircut, color, skin, nails, and clothes you always wanted. Come out the other side ready to take on the world with a new sense of confidence.

Cook yourself a romantic dinner for one

All for you and only for you. Gather a list of your favorite things and eat them all on this special day of love. Whether it be Chinese takeout, or a recipe you’ve been dying to try, dine in and enjoy the soothing feeling of simply enjoying your food.

Go out to the theatre or movies by yourself

For some reason, there’s a stigma against going to movie theatres alone, even though it is one of the best experiences a person can have. From having the popcorn all to yourself to not having to worry about others as you get into the movie, a trip to a show alone is the best way to remind yourself you don’t need to depend on others to have fun.

Go to an amusement park or museum

These places are usually hectic, and when going in a group, there are always disagreements. Get to do what you want to do whenever you want to do it instead of running around doing what others want for an entire day. Maybe even bring along a book to keep you company during long lines.

Write yourself a love letter

Self-love can sometimes be difficult. It’s hard to feel confident, happy, and beautiful every day. That’s why, on this Valentines day, write a love letter to yourself about why you’re amazing. Add quotes, inside jokes, and words of motivation for your future self to read whenever he/she feels that they are anything less than spectacular.

Create a vision board and some goals as a gift for future you

Not all self-care is relaxation. A big part of it is setting your future self-up for success. Do a favor for future you and create a Vision Board. Think up some goals like going to the gym or eating healthier and set out plans to accomplish these goals to treat your future self with a laid-out idea of how to make yourself happier. You can use magazine cut outs, paint, and markers to create a visualization of where you want to be and how to get there. Remember, a goal not written down is not a goal, it’s a dream.
