73rd Primetime Emmy Nominations

By  |

The Emmy nominations are finally in! This year the most exciting night in television will be broadcast live on CBS Paramount+ on September 19, 2021. Television became central to most people’s lives during the pandemic, acting as a familiar comfort during quarantines, lockdowns, and months and months of social distancing. “Television has provided a lifeline for so many around the globe this year, delivering a constant source of entertainment, information, and inspiration during some of our most difficult days,” said the academy’s CEO and chairman, Frank Scherma. He continued by saying, “We are thrilled to honor the diversity of storytelling in television today by recognizing talented artists, programs, producers, directors, and craftspeople throughout our industry and celebrating their commitment to this extraordinary medium.”

The prestigious award show will present awards in 26 categories in a wide range of genres from dramas to talk shows. So far “The Crown” and “The Mandalorian” have received the most Emmy nods at 24 each, Marvel’s futuristic “WandaVision” has received 23, and “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Saturday Night Live” have tied for third place with 21 mentions apiece. Platforms HBO, Netflix, and Disney+ also take the podium for most nominations with HBO leading the pack with 130.
