Many of us chose to stay local this, and celebrate New Year’s in town, however if you’re looking to get out of town next New Years and explore a new city, then look no further. Flair has put together a list of the best cities to celebrate the big night.

Dubai

Breaking the world record in 2023 with the largest fireworks display, Dubai is stiff competition when it comes to this special night. Using the world’s tallest structure – the Burj Khalifa – as the backdrop, with an amazing light display, spelling out words, and igniting different colors, Dubai only seems to get better and better at ringing in the New Year. Book yourself a table at one of the many restaurants overlooking the Burj at Dubai Mall, to get yourself a blanket and camp out in the streets from early, to get the best view.

London

With the world famous Big Ben ringing its bell at midnight, and a fantastic firework display above the River Thames is how London likes to celebrate. Boats playing music pass by, as the London Eye shows of a dazzling display of coloured lights. With historical buildings as the backdrop, and the shimmering Thames below, London has a unique way of celebrating the New Year.

Cape Town

Head to the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, where you will find all of the best New Year’s celebrations, which includes live music, DJs, bars, fireworks, and more. With stunning backdrops of mountains and the vast Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town celebrates the New Year in it’s own magnificent way.

Rio de Janeiro

As the predecessor to Brazil’s famous Carnaval, which takes place in February, Reveillon – the massive New Year’s celebration in Rio – is one of the biggest parties of the year. Party-goers dress in all white and dance the night away. And as Rio de Janeiro is south of the equator, it is summer there at that time, so get ready to take a refreshing dip in the Atlantic after midnight.

New York City

New Years Eve has become synonymous with New York City and has been featured in hundreds of films over hundreds of years. Before the famous ball drop in Times Square, get ready for amazing live concerts, a fireworks display, and an exciting laser show. To add to the dazzle of it all, many of Manhattan’s sky scrapers display colourful lights in celebration of the big night.
