When most people consider Ramadan, they just think of the fasting side, ignoring the very important spiritual element. In Islam, Ramadan is the most sacred month where people focus more on their mentality and spirituality. To commemorate this, Muslims are urged to fast throughout dawn and dusk, read the Quran from cover to cover and spend quality time in divine and consciousness. 

It is the one month of the year where you will reconcile with yourself, your family, and God. Everyone in this day and age is running through their lives. Parents serve while caring for their homes and families. Children are rushed from school and homework to other sports. All are so preoccupied with their own lives that they have little time for their families. Gathering for a family meal could be postponed for days, if not weeks. Ramadan is an opportunity to plan time for all close relatives. During Iftar, everybody gets together and settles down for a meal as a group. As sunset approaches, everyone becomes hungry and waits in unison to break their fast. 

Decorate Your House In a Fun Way

Working around each other to adorn the household is one of the easiest ways to start Ramadan as a family. Watch the Ramadan series or listen to the infamous festive songs to get you in the Ramadan mood when decorating the home. Creating a separate, constructive sensory stimulus is critical for instilling positive associations with Ramadan in kids for the remainder of their lives.

Include Children in the Planning Process

Most of making a “Ramadan atmosphere” for youngsters is including them in the activities you have already to prepare and plan for the month. Allowing children to accompany you on shopping trips and assist you in selecting nutritious food choices for iftar, for instance, goes a very long way toward keeping the kids in the spirit. Incorporate them in Ramadan meal prep and serving, iftar organization, and general house arrangements.

Participate In a Fundraising Event Together

Giving charity is a vital part of Ramadan, both as a teaching medium and as a means for people to come together. Participate in acts of kindness in your neighborhood, whether it’s preparing meals for the less fortunate, cleaning up the area, purchasing toys for foster children, or merely assisting an elderly person in cleaning up their home! It also teaches the children that they should behave altruistically at every point of life and in any financial condition — because a smile is a kindness! 

Involve Children in the Process of Improving Partnership

Make a serious effort to have them visit you as much as possible whenever you reach out to friends and extended family. If you encourage them to call friends, visit someone with you, welcome people into your house, or simply send Ramadan gift bags to your neighbors and colleagues, any attempt is taken to preserve such connections will be remembered by your child. Their participation in these events would instill the value of keeping relationships, as well as teach them essential social skills and Islamic etiquette.

Consume Suhoor or Iftar Together

Eating around each other is about far more than just health. It is about satisfying not only our bodily appetites but also our emotional and moral needs for love and affection. And then who better to form the bond with than our families?

Have Fun And Get All Engaged 

If we continue to combat the Covid-19 epidemic, social distancing must be taken seriously. Making your home a spiritual center for your family this Ramadan. Parents should take the chance to educate their kids on the benefits of fasting. Using faith rituals and meditation in your daily life will make the Holy Month more memorable for you.
