Nahla Zayed During the opening day of the Narrative Summit – Sawt Misr in Somabay on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, Tarek Nour, Chairman of the United Media Services Company, Founder of TN Communications, and Head of the Judging Committee, announced the winners of the inaugural “Al Rawi” Storyteller Awards—an initiative celebrating outstanding content creators from Egypt’s youth.
The three winners were recognized across three key categories:
- Photographic Storytelling: Jihad Abdel Samiea
- Creative Short-form Digital Content (under one minute): Ahmed Hatem Hegazy
- Short Documentary Film (up to 5 minutes): Mostafa Salem
In his remarks, Tarek Nour expressed his pride in presenting the award to a new generation of talented young creatives, selected by a distinguished jury. He also extended his appreciation to the Narrative Summit for launching this platform, which empowers youth to showcase their creativity and tell Egypt’s story in new and inspiring ways.
The “Al Rawi” Storyteller Awards were introduced for the first time this year as part of the summit’s commitment to highlighting youth perspectives and encouraging innovative storytelling that reflects Egypt as a modern nation rich with opportunities. Submissions included a wide range of formats—from documentary to dramatized content—all aiming to present Egypt in a positive, authentic light.
Earlier this year, a shortlist of nine finalists was announced, selected from hundreds of applicants across Egypt. Finalists competed in three main categories and were evaluated by a high-profile judging panel that included:
Tarek Nour, Tarek El-Ganainy (Founder, TVision), Lamia Kamel (Founder of Narrative Summit and CEO of CC Plus and Flair Magazine), Amy Mowafi (Founder, MO4 Network), Ahmed Obaid (Founder and CEO, RMC), Ahmed Wahba (Film Director), and Karim Abou Gamrah (Founder and Chairman, Peace Cake).
The Narrative Summit – Sawt Misr is being held under the auspices and presence of the Ministers of Planning and Economic Development, International Cooperation, Investment, and Youth and Sports, and is driven by private sector leadership. The summit welcomes a lineup of distinguished speakers including senior officials, policy experts, and prominent business leaders from Egypt and abroad.
