Prominent star Salma Abu Deif received a special honor from the Women in Cinema initiative that was held during the events of the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
The event was hosted by the Red Sea International Film Festival and Vanity Fair Europe to celebrate the accomplishments of six lead women in the entertainment industry. The list of honorees included Egyptian star Salma Abu Deif, director RamataToulaye-Sy, Saudi actress Adhwa Fahad, Saudi singer and actress Aseel Omran, Indian actress Kiara Advani, Thai actress and singer Sarocha Chankimha (AKA Freen).
Additionally, Salma Abu Deif joined the Women in Cinema panel discussion and spoke about her early beginnings, career breakthroughs and her sources of inspiration during the panel talk. Salma discussed the challenges that women face in the entertainment industry, as well as her cinematic debut in 2017 with her role in Sheikh Jackson film and the successful dramaA’la Nesbet Moshahda that received wide audience acclaim in Ramadan 2024.
Most recently, Salma Abu Deif took part in the 10-episode series Ela El Talaaq as a guest of honor. Ela El Talaaq stars Eyad Nassar, Dina El Sherbiny, Salma Abu Deif, and many other stars. The series is written by a narration workshop by Maryam Naoum and directed by Mohamed Baraka.
In the Ramadan 2024 season, Salma’s series A’la Nesbet Moshahda received wide audience acclaim. The series stars Salma Abu Deif, along with Laila Ahmed Zaher, Farah Youssef, Jala Hesham, Entesar, Mohamed Mahmoud, Ahmed Fahim, and Islam Ibrahim, among others. A’la Nesbet Moshahda is written by Samar Taher and directed by Yasmine Ahmed Kamel.
Before the Ramadan season, Salma Abu Deif played the role of Malak Shehab in the series Byn Al Sutoor which achieved huge success on social media platforms. The series stars Saba Mubarak, Salma Abu Deif, Ahmed Fahmy, and Mohamed Alaa, among others. The series is written by Mariam Naoum and directed by Wael Farag.
