Through his official social media accounts, Sedky Sakhr posted BTS from the scenes of the suicide scene of the character he plays, Marwan, in the second season of the Rivo series. Rivo is aired exclusively on the Watch It platform. Sedky commented: “ Our mental health is one of the things that greatly affects our lives.
Recently, awareness about it has been increasing. I am proud and fortunate to portray a character that addresses this issue. We may hear about depression and other mental illnesses or disorders, but not all of us understand their implications. We tend to tell those who are suffering to just get up, exercise, and overcome it, but the issue is actually more complicated than that. I am not a specialist and I am not here to preach, but Marwan’s character made me understand that we need to have acceptance and respect for anyone going through these circumstances. The least we can do is to try to understand more and increase our awareness of mental health.
The new episodes of Rivo features the psychological breakdown of Marwan (Sedky Sakhr) and his escape with addiction to alcohol, and the failure of his friend Maged’s (Tamer Hashem) attempts to help him. Will Marwan’s journey end while he carries a sin that we do not know?
The second season of Rivo series consists of 10 episodes. Alongside Sedky Sakhr, Rivo stars Amir Eid, Rakeen Saad, Hassan Abu Al-Rous, Tamer Hashem, Mina El Naggar, Sarah Abdelrahman and Mohsen Mohieldin.
Rivo is written by Muhammad Nair and directed by Yahya Ismail. Most recently, Sedky has had a unique and new experience, as he is singing with the band Kahareb in their new song ‘Lesany Sayeb’. The music video features Sedky Sakher while playing the harmonica and singing with Kahareb band in the theme of summer and the sea. The song is written and composed by Youssef Atwan, produced by Mukhtar Al-Sayeh, and the music video is directed by Kafrawi and edited by Sarah Abdullah.
Currently, the second season of Sedky’s series Ansaf Majaneen is airing on Viu platform, in addition to Qawa’ed Al Talaq Al 45 that is broadcasted on Shahid VIP and topped the platform’s watch lists. On Watch IT, Sedky has two works; Rivo and Etizan.
Sedky Shakhr took part in the 43 rd edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) with the short film The Ditch that competed within the Short Films Official Competition, where it had its world premiere. The Ditch is written and directed by Amr abed and produced by Karim Kassem.
