After achieving nearly 110 million dollars in total revenues around the world, the animated movie Minions: The Rise of Gru managed to generate approximately 2 million pounds in revenues within five days of its presentation in 27 screens in the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada and Gharbia. During the past few days, a special screening of the movie, which was launched by Four Star Films, was held in Egyptian theaters and IMAX halls. In the presence of a large number of children, bloggers and followers of the Minions movie series, at VOX City Center Almaza Cinema, a blue carpet was worn by Minions characters instead of the red carpets that are used at movie premieres.
Minions: The Rise of Gru takes place in the seventies when a twelve-year-old puppy begins to implement his plan to become the greatest villain in the world. The film is directed by Kyle Pelada, the director of Minions, for which he was nominated for BAFTAs for Best Animated Feature and Despicable Me, Brad Ableson, and Jonathan Del Val. It was written by Brian Lynch, author of The Secret Life of Pets and Minions, Matthew Vogel, and Cinco Ball, author of the Despicable Me trilogy and The Secret Life of Pets.
The hit TV series The Morning Show, along with voice performance by Despicable Me director Pierre Coffin, features action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, actresses Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, Lucy Lawless, best known for her role as warrior princess Xena and Julie Andrews.

Ticket sales for the fifth installment of Universal and Illumination’s popular “Despicable Me” series are a comforting sign that the family crowds haven’t completely forgotten about movie theaters, after Disney Pixar’s “Lightyear” didn’t live up to expectations. Variety: Hollywood has been looking to Minions: The Rise of Gru as a big-screen comeback test, because moviegoers with young children are a vital demographic in driving overall box office revenue, and they’ve only returned in sporadic periods since the pandemic began.
