The Russo Brothers: Ryan Gosling is the real Gray Man. Choosing Ryan Gosling to play The Gray Man was such a big challenge

As usual, the brother’s Joe and Anthony Russo present the unique and different things on the cinema screen, so they bet on their new movie “The Gray Man”, especially as they present their favorite star “Ryan Gosling” in a completely new and different way.

For the first time in his career, Gosling presents a number of characters through this film, despite his refusal to do so in several films, including Marvel and DC, where Ryan plays Kurt Gentry or Sierra Six, a CIA agent who is recruited into a federal prison, to act as an undercover agency killer, officially he does not exist, and hence his title being the Gray Man appears, as he is the one who lives and dies such shadows.

The Russo brothers asserted: “The Gray Man is an incredibly mysterious character, with a very secret past, it can be said that he is a ghost, his job is to hide from everyone’s eyes, even in murder, he executes the order and then disappears, and choosing the actor who will play the same role was a different challenge”.

They continued: “This is why we need Gosling to present the role, he is exceptional in communicating the details to the recipient through a look or movement, he created the inner life of the character in a precise and elegant way, and he also has wonderful control over his body, actually we think there is a gray man deep inside him except for murdering thing”.

Joe Russo noted: “Gosling gave depth to the character, through a simple performance that we were asking for. Ryan’s approach to performance is very similar to the gray man’s approach to living in a wild way. We can simply say he is the master of simplicity and subtlety. He knows how to convey a very complex inner lifely feeling by doing very little.
Aside from being an actor, he also has charisma at the same time, as if Gosling was born to reside in the psyche of a gray man, and by embodying the role he proved that he is able to present this challenge, and I was pleased to show the film first on the cinema screen because the audience will follow what Ryan is doing better and will feel many more details he wouldn’t be able to feel when watching it on a normal traditional screen”.

Anthony Russo said: “This character is very subtle and carefully shrouded, he wastes no energy, and doesn’t move if he doesn’t have to, because everything is preserved just in case he needs it. As the CIA’s most skilled mercenary, “Sierra Six” aka the Gray Man, who inadvertently reveals the agency’s dark secrets, must escape a global hunt led by his psychopathic ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen who is played by Chris Evans.

The Russo brothers confirmed that they asked the actors to train “vigorously” for their roles, which required them to be at the peak of physical fitness in order to perform the action scenes which was necessary to present the excitement they were thinking of, and Ryan was able to present such an incredible unbelievable performance in the film that the audience will enjoy watching.

“I was drawn to the fact that my character is a spy who is not on any kind of mission, everyone in the movie targets him, but just wants to avoid them so he can live a normal life,” Gosling said. In almost every scene we tried to set him up where he’s at a disadvantage, it’s about watching him use whatever is in his environment to gain a huge influence, and what he uses constantly is humor, it’s a survival tool for him, if he can find what’s funny in the absurd the situation, he can distance himself from his danger,”. He added: “I loved making this movie, I would like to repeat the experience again, and I was glad that the audience would be able to watch it in theaters first, where they feel all the details that we went through, especially in the action, I hope that we can from this point present the rest of the parts of the same novel at some point.

It is noteworthy that the events of The Gray Man movie are inspired by the first book of the series of books The Gray Man by Mark Greene, which was issued in 2009 and reached 6 books, written by Joe Russo, Christopher Marcus, Stephen McFeely, and starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, Anna de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Danush, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, Reg Jean Page, Julia Butters, Amy Equacor, Scott Haze, and the spy film brings together brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of the Avengers series.

The film will be shown first in theaters starting on July 13 in the Egyptian theaters, in a precedent that is the first of its kind for Netflix. It will also be shown on July 14 in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar.
