In celebration of Africa Day, TikTok Launches a New Challenge to Celebrate Africa in Cooperation with CAF

TikTok, the world’s leading video and entertainment platform, is launching a new challenge in collaboration with partners, Confederation of African Football (CAF) through the hashtag #keepUpWithAfrica.

This comes as part of the celebration of Africa Day on 25 May to recognize Africa by shedding light and introducing the talents and potentials of African footballers to the fans of the game all over the world.

The partnership between TikTok and CAF, which started last year, has been considerable success in creating unique content using Africa’s most popular sport; football to reach hundreds of millions of people.

Users can join thousands of participants to show their keepie uppie skills and duetting the #KeepUpWithAfrica challenge on TikTok, by creating their own video, tagging CAF’s official TikTok account @caf_online, and sharing #KeepUpWithAfrica.

Commenting on this cooperation, Hany Kamel, Content Operations Director at TikTok MENA, said: “Africa is distinguished with its cultural diversity. These cultures are interwoven in harmony through sharing a lot in common. Football brings cultures together and unites the entire African nation, being the most popular sport in the continent with millions of fans.”

He added, “There is no better way than portraying football to present Africa in celebration of Africa Day with all the sportsmanship it portrays, particularly being the sport that unites all people from different ages and social and cultural backgrounds.”

Kamel expressed his gratitude and excitement for the long-term cooperation with CAF, praising its role in supporting sports in Africa. He also stressed the vital role TikTok plays in supporting talents worldwide in all fields and its keenness in providing TikTok’s community with the tools that facilitate content creation.

Some of the footballers that are participating in the challenge are Vincent Aboubakar, a Cameroonian football star who plays in the Saudi Professional League and the Cameroon national team; Ahmed Musa, a Nigerian professional footballer who played for the English club Leicester City; Edouard Mendy, the goalkeeper for Premier League club Chelsea; Onome Ebi, Captain of Nigeria national women’s football team and a defender in a Belarusian club; Amr Al-Sulayya, who plays for the Egyptian club Al-Ahly; and Mahmoud Hamdi Al-Wensh, a professional footballer currently playing for the Egyptian club Zamalek.
