In light of the historic milestone of Egypt hosting COP27 this November in Sharm El Sheikh, The Ministry of Environment launched the National Climate change Strategy for 2050 under the supervision of the Egyptian prime minister H.E. Mostafa Madbouly.

The strategy Stated the following:

  • Egypt is committed to its role in addressing and adapting to the adverse impacts of climate change, as it is highly vulnerable to this global crisis.
  • The priority of the National Climate Change Strategy lies in ensuring the quality of life for Egyptian citizens.
  • The National Climate Change Strategy was prepared based on global commitments and national legislation
    Its goals:
  1. Achieving sustainable economic growth and reducing emissions in various sectors.
  2. Building resilience and adaptive capacity to climate change and alleviating the associated negative Impacts.
  3. Enhancing Climate Change Action Governance and Management.
  4. Enhancing Climate Financing Infrastructure.
  5. Enhancing scientific research, technology transfer, knowledge management, and awareness to combat climate change.

The Strategy contains adaptation and mitigation programs until the year 2050 in all sectors, the most important of which are Energy, Transport, Agriculture, and Water Resources.
