Smith is the architect of mammoth landmarks Burj Khalifa and Al Wasl Plaza Dubai 2020

World Renown Architects of civilization Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, and their staff have paid a visit to the Giza Pyramids area. They were accompanied by Egyptian famous archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass.

Adrian Smith, the co-founder of Adrian Smith+ & Gordon Gill architecture, thanked Dr. Zahi Hawass and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism for the opportunity to explore these great historical monuments that stand tall as a witness to the greatness of this country and its cultural roots in history.

Adrian Smith said: “As an architect, I feel very excited to visit the Pyramids of Giza, which has always been a source of inspiration for every architect throughout the ages, with its amazing engineering creativity that made it sit on the throne of architectural creativity in the ancient world. They truly constitute a unique historical and cultural value of its kind.”

Gordon Gill, the partner in Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill Architecture, expressed his great admiration for the greatness of the Pharaonic civilization, which he has been passionate about since his childhood. He added that he always dreamed of visiting Egypt at some point to delve deeper into the knowledge of the Egyptian civilization and the Pharaohs.

Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill were keen to take souvenir photos with their staff in front of the Pyramids, wishing to visit it again as early as possible.

Adrian Smith is one of the world’s most important architects, and he has designed more than 38 projects, led by the Burj Khalifa Tower in the United Arab Emirates, and the Jeddah Tower project in Saudi Arabia. He also designed 9 environmentally friendly and energy-saving projects.

“Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill” Architects, designed Al Wasl Square (Al Wasl Expo Plaza) in the heart of the Dubai Expo 2020, which represents one of the most prominent landmarks of the new city of Dubai and bears the name of the old Dubai. “Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill” Architects won the Al Wasl Square tender for which the largest international architects competed.

The Smith-designed projects have received over 125 awards including 5 international awards, 9 from the National Institute of Architects, 35 State and Chicago AIA Awards, 3 Urban Land Institute Awards for Excellence, as well as the 2011 CTBUH Lynn S.beedle Lifetime Achievement Award.

Smith’s work at SOM has been featured in museums in the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He is a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council.
