The Formula

While face powders often get a bad rep for being dehydrating, drying, and leaving you with a one-dimensional chalky complexion, GloWish by Huda Beauty is changing the game by introducing Luminous Pressed Powder. The silky, breathable, and micro-fine pressed powder leaves you with flawless, radiant, and natural-looking skin without the dreaded, dry-looking complexion so often left by powders. Armed with an optimal balance of pearls and pigments that leave a blurring, smoothing effect, and infused with a concoction of good-for-you skincare ingredients, the silky and comfy powder blends like smooth, second skin and breaks all the rules, leaving a lit-from-within next-level glow. 

The magic behind the new fairy dust is the fact that GloWish is committed to designing products that combine well for skin ingredients with beauty-blasting functionalities. The non-drying formula is infused with 80 percent naturally derived ingredients including Damascus Rose Oil, Vitamin E, and Red Bell Pepper Extract, meaning the glow-bestowing powder leaves you with a silky veil that looks like your own, natural skin and lasts all day.

Another major bonus? This formula works beautifully on both bare skin and top of your fave foundation formula. Huda loves to swirl a damp makeup sponge in the powder before applying it to bare skin to immediately blur, smooth, and even her skin. For full glam days, Huda applies it on top of her #FauxFilter foundations with a brush to add an immediate glow-boost that sets and blurs for all-day glowing skin. It’s also ideal for setting in place the GloWish MultiDew Skin Tint without diminishing the formula’s glowing finish.

The Inspiration

GloWish was born out of Huda Kattan’s evolution towards celebrating more natural-looking beauty codes. With the inception of WISHFUL – Huda’s skincare line launched in 2020 –  the global beauty entrepreneur found that her skin was brighter, smoother, and better than ever before, and she wanted makeup must-haves that would enhance and celebrate her natural glow, not work to hide it. As a result, GloWish by Huda Beauty was born earlier this year, and Huda continues to build an edited range of beauty icons that enhance and celebrate the skin’s natural glow while also working to enrich and improve skin. 

Wanting an alternative to her signature cake face, Huda decided to design a lightweight, breathable Luminous Pressed Powder – a formula she had always been looking for but never found.  The result is a formula that gives a natural-looking, luminous finish while also allowing her to achieve different levels of coverage depending on her mood and the tool she uses. 

To match the GloWish MultiDew shades, the powder is available in 13 shades from Fair to Extra Rich, all built with a neutral undertone so that each shade is unique yet stretchable and can flatter multiple skin tones. GloWish Luminous Pressed Powder is Vegan Society certified and not tested on animals. The compact is also packaged in a recyclable uncoated FSC certified paper box, meaning you can get your glow on without the guilt. 

The Brush:

To coincide with the launch of Luminous Pressed Powder also comes the latest beauty tool in GloWish’s sustainable brush collection, the Face | All Over Powder Brush. Designed to diffuse powder beautifully and evenly across the face without settling product into pores. The eco-friendly domed brush is made with synthetic, 100 percent vegan bristles and has a handle made of PLA Biodegradable, all housed in a travel-friendly, reusable pouch. 

While the new tool was designed with Luminous Pressed Powder in mind, the versatile brush can be used with any powder to build your desired coverage. Swirl the brush in your powder to pick up the product and apply it to the face in outward strokes. The Ingredients:

Damascus Rose Oil 

Drawn from petals where the oil provides a high level of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, Damascus Rose Oil (the same oil used in WISHFUL’s Get Even Rose Oil) works to soothe skin, clarify the complexion, and lock in extreme moisture as well as leaving a deliciously dreamy scent.

Red Bell Pepper

Extracted through a cold-press process where 100 percent of its vitamins, enzymes, and nutrients are fully preserved, the powerful red bell pepper extract is known for its defense against the effects of digital pollution, including blue light emitted from urban technology which can cause aging, dark spots and sleep deprivation. Furthermore, GloWish helps to reduce waste by using ‘ugly’ peppers unwanted for consumer consumption but are still a valuable source of the active ingredient. 

Vitamin E

Vitamin E has been a key ingredient in skincare for over 50 years and is a powerful antioxidant that protects skin from free radicals while also having super conditioning and soothing properties.
