Where do we start? If you’ve never watched ‘Hamilton’, we suggest you go ahead and watch it right now before you read this article. Although, given the fact that it’s almost three hours long, maybe we should take this chance to persuade you why this American musical is worth your time. If you naturally enjoy musicals, you will fall in love with this one. If you don’t particularly watch this type of entertainment, here are some reasons why you will love this masterpiece.

The Beautiful Script

Aside from the stunning line delivery by the cast, the script in itself was so cleverly written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also happens to play Alexander Hamilton, the main character. From start to finish, the whole musical is sung and rapped through. Yes, you heard me – and it was mostly rapped through. The rhyming and play on words is amusing and spot on; we would suggest you make sure to have the subtitles on so you don’t miss any of it.

The Portrayal of King George the Third

Something that will easily stand out to you is Jonathan Groff’s take on King George. Every scene he came out center stage, we couldn’t help but cackle. The way he kept his face straight as he sang very ridiculous lyrics will make you want to replay his part at least five times before moving on. Basically, he delivered a character with a rather perfect balance of psychotic and hilarious.

The Striking Talent of Daveed Diggs

Let’s talk about it! Diggs went from playing a French man, Marquis de Lafayette, at the beginning of the musical to Thomas Jefferson by the second half, and he aced both roles with flying colors. Aside from his ability to transition between two polar accents, the way he performed, along with his skillful rap delivery, will always grab your attention as soon as his turn comes up.

The Passionate Voice of Leslie Odom Jr.

Aside from playing Aaron Burr, the villain who shot Hamilton, Odom was also in charge of leading the intro of every new scene, and he did it beautifully.  His voice is – how you say – chef’s kiss! The evident passion in his voice brought so many layers to his character and made him more intriguing than ever.

Needless to say, there is much more to love about this musical, including the stunning voices of the Schuyler sisters, the powerful portrayal of George Washington and the way the story plays out. These are only the main highlights.
