Regé-Jean Page Reportedly Turned Down season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’

It came as a surprise for all Netflix Bridgerton fans that Regé-Jean Page won’t be appearing in the second season.

On Friday, April 2nd, Netflix delivered the news on Bridgerton’s official account on Twitter, sharing a note in the form of the Lady Whistledown’s gossip sheets that says “Dearest readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence on screen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”

Page wasn’t only one of the show’s most admiring characters, but he also won a NAACP Award for his extraordinary performance in the first season. On the other hand, Page told Variety that the plan has always been to participate in only one season, as agreed with the production.

With Simon leaving, the second season, scheduled for production in Spring this year in London, it will feature Daphne – played by Phoebe Dynevor, continuing the journey of helping her brother in pursuing romance.

Also, as the season progresses, fans will witness a rush of romance. As the note stated, “Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer — more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”
