The Voice is officially welcoming Ariana Grande as a new coach for Season 21! The beloved songbird will be taking Nick Jonas’ place, alongside fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. While we will most definitely miss Jonas’ charm and unique input, we can’t wait to see what Grande will bring to this show.
Expressing her enthusiasm in a statement, Grande said, “I’m so honored and excited to join The Voice family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time. I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level.”
Season 21 will actually be the sixth season that Blake, Kelly and John sat on the panel together. There was always this one coach position that has been shifting – first from Gwen Stefani to Jonas and now to Grande.
Earlier when Gwen Stefani was on the show, Clarkson shared with Entertainment Tonight, “I love having another female. I’ve done it with all the guys, and it’s cool…but I like having the female energy to kind of bounce off of. I’m a girls’ girl. I have a lot of girlfriends, so I’m welcoming of that.” She reacted to the recent news by tweeting, “Next season we are bringing y’all some powerful female energy! Welcome to the The Voice family Ariana.” Shelton and Legend also welcomed her, and Nick Jonas wished her good luck, “Congrats Ariana! You’re going to kill it next season! Welcome to the family.”
