HBO Max Confirms “Sex and the City” Reboot

It has finally been confirmed, the infamous NYC based drama, “Sex and the City” is getting a reboot on HBO Max. The news was confirmed by multiple sources and fans are already buzzing with excitement at the revival that will follow gal-pals Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Charlotte York (Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in, take a deep breath, their 50s!

For those that have been bombarded with the chaos of 2020 and can’t remember the fine print; the hit sitcom first aired in 1998 and was based on Candace Bushnell’s 1997 book of the same name. The original series ran for six seasons on HBO and resulted in two spin-off movies. What we do know is that the new series will be 10 episodes that center around the friends in their native New York City. There was a lot of speculation surrounding the reboot and everyone is excited even Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max who made a statement saying, “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them.”

Reboots have been in vogue in the last few years and now 16-years later, fans will be able to follow their favorite big city gals but with one exception. The sultry Samantha Jones played by Kim Cattrall will not be returning—this is no surprise as she has been vocal about issues with former co-stars and her refusal to join any SATC reboots going forward. The release date for the highly anticipated show is still unknown but production will begin in New York this spring.
