Hadid Joins Burberry for Pocket Bag Launch

Burberry is serving bags, bags, bags and we are 100% here for it! The iconic fashion house unveiled its first-ever bag campaign featuring Palestinian-American supermodel Bella Hadid. The jaw-dropping Hadid has worked with the brand before and was excited to team up again to shoot a campaign for Burberry’s newest signature handbag—the Pocket Bag. If the bag looks familiar, it’s because the structured tote bag was first introduced as part of the A/W19 collection and the sexy silhouette was taken from Burberry’s archives for its international debut. Now, the Pocket Bag is a stand-alone force to be reckoned with; featuring a large front pocket, leather taping, and both topstitching and hand-painted edges the bag is a must-have for the Fall 2020 season.

If this feels monumental, that’s because it is! This is the first time for the British brand to have a bag campaign, but with Riccardo Tisci at the helm and photographer Inez and Vinoodh behind the camera—it was bound to be a major success. In an interview discussing the campaign Tisci said, “For Burberry’s first ever bag campaign, I knew that I needed to give the Pocket Bag a powerful modern energy and so together with Katy, Inez and Vinoodh we developed an exciting campaign inspired by Burberry’s Animal Kingdom. Animals have always been a creative obsession and signature of mine, and it was so amazing to see Bella Hadid bring this to life as the panther. She has this fierce power and raw femininity that perfectly embodies the animal spirit.”

The photoshoot was inspired by the Burberry Animal Kingdom and the creative history-making campaign invokes a strong sense of feline femininity and power. Hadid was decked out in the latest Burberry ready-to-wear collection, posing amongst cat sculptures; each photo encapsulates the star-power of Hadid and the enduring luxury of Burberry. In a press release, she said, “I absolutely loved shooting this campaign, letting my inner animal spirit run free. I felt we were really capturing that feline energy and power.”
