Cirque Du Soleil Adrenalin Rushing Show in Egypt

For the first time in Egypt, world renowned show Cirque du Soleil is here! The famous acrobatic troop graced Egypt with a one of a kind show meant to entertain and amaze the most skeptical of viewers. With a show celebrating individuality and the bizarreness that comes with it, Cirque du Soleil: Bazzar is truly one of a kind.

Being one of the few shows that favors shine of character over individuality, Cirque du Soleil: Bazzar truly stands out of the usually synchronized performances usually presented by the company. From the costumes to the choreography, each dancer stood out in there own unique way, shining through with their personality. Bazzar is also unique in the fact that it is the first Cirque du Soleil show to feature Mallakhamb, an acrobatic act that features pole dancers synchronizing there movements up and down a large wooden pole.

The story of Bazzar follows The Maestro, the leader of the band of acrobats who he conducts. When his hat is destroyed by the mischievous Floating Woman, the Troupe, Mini Maestro and other ensemble characters try to keep the show going smoothly until the hat is fixed.

We also got the exclusive with the comedic Maestro about the unique creative process that went into making the show:

What is the aesthetic of the show? What is BAZZAR?

It’s really, every artists is kind of their own character. It’s really different from other cirque shows, we don’t have lizards or birds or different creatures- they are really themselves. And the chemistry of how everybody fits together, it makes it a Bazzar. It’s more individual.

Because of all the individuality, did the show evolve or do you try to maintain a sense of consistency throughout your shows?

The form and the content is the same, but we always hope that it continually evolving. Tonight, I’m putting in some inspiration from an amazing Egyptian sculpture. I went and saw Adam Henein’s museum, I think its world class, I think it’s one of the best museums I’ve ever seen, and I’m gonna take some of the sculptures that are in his museum and put them on stage. It’s very subtle, but this is the way we take from each market and we put something in it and that’s how the show grows.

What’s your favorite moment from the show?

From my point of view, the moments I really love are the moments I don’t know are gonna happen- it’s the surprises, we all love the surprises. It’s what brings everybody on stage alive and go like “Oh! He’s never been tipped upside-down before or this hasn’t happened before!” When these kind of things happen, that’s great for us, and I think that’s also great for the audience. So, we try to take as much risk to keep it as new and as spontaneous as possible. Special, just for you, just for Egypt, just for you guys today.

The show itself takes us through the six beautiful worlds that make up what the core of a circus show truly represents. Starting with a daring “After-Effect” of the chaos, leading to high stakes teeterboard act that seems to defy the laws of gravity and honestly basic human safety. This then leads us to the much more structured “Mechanical” event of the show as we follow acrobats preforming impossible Acro-Bike and hardcore Roller-skating.

Then comes the synchronized acts in the “Rehearsal” portion of the show, where beautiful trapeze artists and unbelievably talented Mallakhamb dancers shine with their incredible strength, control, and timing, whilst still maintaining a sense of individuality. Next comes the lovely “Ropes” segment featuring the mischievous Floating Woman creating beautiful flowing acrobatics at breathtaking heights.

Finally reclaiming control, the Maestro leads the troupe into the “Structure” part of the show, getting the audience involved. However, there is a “Final Twist” which leads to an innovative, exciting and ultimately entertaining performance that marks a new beginning for the Bazzar troupe, one they get to manipulate and decide.

Staying in town until the 6th of October, Cirque du Soleil: Bazzar is honestly one of the most exciting, adrenalin rushing shows ever to be seen in Egypt. Embrace your individuality with this one in a lifetime opportunity. Tickets can be purchased at TicketsMarche.com.
