The 2003 epitome of a rom-com classic, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days made us laugh and swoon at the antics of both Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) and Ben Berry (Mathew McConaughey) trying to win an opposite bet, each trying to respectively lose and keep a romantic partner for 10 days. A premise guaranteed for a ton of romantic drama managed to wrap up the 10 days in less than two hours and still create a masterpiece. With this new television remake, we can only imagine the amount of additional tricks, trials and tears the fated couple will face.

The show is to be made into a series under Paramount Television and Quibli. The writer on the project is Guy Branum who worked on The Mindy Project. He’s the one who released the tweet—we didn’t know we needed—announcing the project was finally in the works, after gaining permission to re-write the movie into a series.

So, what are the differences? Well with the decline of the print industry, the new Andy Anderson counterpart is now a young online columnist, while the new Ben will remain an advertising executive, who, according to the official synopsis, is still apparently the same flirt the original was. The two must both prove they are capable of being in a monogamous relationship, which apparently is found to become a very difficult task.

All we can do now is thank Guy Branum for existing and having the drive to adapt such a brilliant film into a series that, if anything like the original, will definitely be a re-watchable hit.
