Yoga
Yoga has been a popular form of exercise outside of its birthplace of India for many years now. Yoga, from the ancient Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind, which makes sense if you have ever seen or attended a yoga practice. Bending, stretching, twisting, and contorting are all part and parcel of a yoga class. Yoga has gone mainstream and yoga studios are now offering more and more styles of yoga to cater to those who want a vigorous workout to those who want to stretch and meditate. Yoga is as diverse as those that practice it and there is a reason yoga has been around for thousands of years.
Group Training
Through technology, the world is interconnected and intertwined twenty-four hours a day. This interconnected trend has carried over into the fitness realm and group training or fitness classes are growing in popularity. With time being limited many people are looking for opportunities to work out with friends and family and group training is a hot trend this year. Exercising or training in groups of five or more people has its perks like making your daily workout more sociable, getting to sweat with friends, as well as making fitness packages more affordable.
The Great Outdoors
There are many people who don’t find conventional fitness to be fun or rewarding and this group has pushed the envelope when it comes to finding organic ways of enjoying the great outdoors while working up a sweat. Outdoor activities like walking, hiking, kayaking, cycling, swimming, and rock climbing are growing in popularity because of their accessibility to people of all fitness levels. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
High-intensity interval training sometimes called HIIT has taken over many gyms and fitness classes in the last few years. This type of training is extremely intense and usually involves short training periods that consist of high-intensity exercises. HIIT is popular because it doesn’t require hours and hours in the gym making it a feasible option for those with packed schedules. Each session is done for about 30 minutes or less. These maximum effort workouts and done is short bursts with short rest periods allowing for an efficient workout that effectively burns calories and improves cardiovascular health
Combat Sports Training
People take fitness classes for a variety of reasons including wanting to lose weight, strength building and acquiring new skills. Combat sports like karate, boxing, and Muay Thai are whole-body workouts that have many great health benefits including the improvement of cardiovascular health and stamina. These types of practices were typically for niche markets, but are slowly making their way mainstream
