After opening Egypt’s beloved bridal and haute couture dresses store “The Boutique” in 2009, Maram Borhan went on to launch her very own collection in 2017. Characterized by opulent fabrics and glamorous embroidery, Maram’s new haute couture collection emits a flowery delicacy.
Inspired by floral bodies, the collection uses silk mikado, tulle, and lace to create fabric bouquets that breathe air into the gowns. Borhan’s SS’19 couture collection, a deviation from her usual custom bridal gowns, is titled The Rose Gold Collection and features 12 dresses inspired by timeless floral movements and chromas.
Feathers, sequins, glitter, and embroidery adorn the collection, bringing an air of opulent recherché to the rosy-hued gowns. Borhan expertly manipulates fabrics to redesign a rose into a gown. By folding and creasing materials meticulously, she is able to emulate the likeness of a blossoming flower on the lower part of one short dress, while the bustier is brushed with silvery lines, resembling the veins on a leaf.
The result? An ethereal collection that brings a balletic quality truly fit for royalty.
