So you’re single and it’s almost Valentine’s. So what? First of all, you’re off the hook from having to plan some big romantic gesture and your wallet won’t complain because you don’t have to buy any expensive gifts. Not to mention, you’re not going to be required to share your food with anyone. Cheers to you, my friend. Here are some ideas for what to do on Valentine’s Day when you’re single.

Host a dinner party for all your single friends.

Enjoy their company while you can. Most of us like to deny it but it’s true that when people get in a relationship, many of their friendships are put on the back-burner. If you’re not feeling great, you can open up and talk about it. Listen to them share their hearts, as well.

Go on a shopping spree and take full advantage of the season sales.

Absolutely. Go, spread your wings and fly down the aisles of your favorite mall. Also, make sure to keep tabs on social media to know where all the prime spots are.

Pamper yourself at a spa.

Yes, you deserve it. Get a massage, do a facial or hit the sauna – whatever makes you happy. Oh, and make sure to ask about all the special offers for Valentine’s Day. You can also take advantage of that and indulge in the couple packages with your best friend.

Watch some stand up comedy shows on Netflix.

If you’re feeling a little down, this is sure to be a perfect pick-me-up. Laughter is the best medicine. We’re proud to recommend Trevor Noah, Iliza Shlesinger and Jerry Seinfeld.

Stay in and take the day to unplug.

If you’re the type of person to easily get caught up in an emotional downward spiral when you get on social media, make sure to leave your phone behind specially on that day. Cook a nice meal or read a book and enjoy a chill, hygge day. Your heart will thank you for it.

Sign up for a fun workout.

Definitely start your day with a workout. And pick the type of workout that you actually like. Apart from the obvious rewards you get by staying active, you will get emotional boosts that will give you the perfect head start and provide sustenance for the rest of the day.

Babysit for a couple that never gets a night out.

If you have friends who have kids and you know are probably dying to have a night off, this is the perfect chance to be the good Samaritan. Not only are you being a great friend but you’re also proving to yourself that life is about more than just being in a relationship.
