Egyptian designer Mohanad Kojak just released a new collection in collaboration with homegrown store Markaz, supporting local artisans from all around Egypt. The collection, which comprises 12 pieces, bridges Egyptian authentic craftsmanship with modern cuts and fabrics.

“I wanted to create pieces that are comfortable, urban and modern yet have an authentic feel to them,” said Mohanad Kojak, Chief Designer of Kojak.

Kojak decided to utilize versatile fabrics, like denim, linen, satin and tulle, while sticking to earthy colors, including khaki and beige, in addition to earthy tones of blue and pink.

Local Markaz artisans added their own take to the pieces by adding handmade tassels, embroidery and typical patchwork.
Kojak worked closely with Markaz and the artisans to make sure that the embroidery work and designs complement one another, creating a mash-up of fashion styles.

The collection includes both breezy and modest pieces, which are perfect for hot summer days as well as breezy nights, whether you’re lounging by the beach or running errands. The collection is versatile and comfortable, fit for the woman who is practical and trendy.

Both the collaboration and shoot were facilitated by the dynamic sister duo Maissa and Sahar Azab, who did the styling and art direction for the shoot, which took place in Geziret El Dahab.

The collection is now available through the Markaz store in Zamalek and will be available in the North Coast starting the first week of July in Rixos Hotel- Al Alamein and Elcorte Hacienda White.
