Humanitarian and international model Jessica Kahawaty cohosted an auction gala last Tuesday with Maison Pyramide at Marriott Hotel in Zamalek. Guests were asked to come in black tie attire, enjoy a sohour night with friends and bid on auction items for the benefit of Helm Foundation – a foundation that aims to empower people with disabilities to enter the workforce in Egypt and support their full inclusion in society.
Auction items included jewellery by Ammanii, Azza Fahmy, Dima Jewellery, Djewelled, and Vartan. There was also a special edition denim jacket by Kojak, a limited edition gold-plated minaudiere by Okhtein, an oil canvas painting, and even a voucher for free haircuts for an entire year at Mohamed el Soghayar.
The evening started off with welcome speeches by Maison Pyramide founders, Jessica Kahawaty, and Helm founders who talked about how their dream for the foundation started. Following that, Helm ambassadors Mahmoud Youssef and Shaimaa Ibrahim shared their success stories about overcoming the typical societal restrictions on disabled people and the possibility of becoming fully integrated into society – Mahmoud having become an international tennis champion and Shaimaa getting her masters degree in digital marketing from NYU.
Before the silent auction began, a surprise guest performance by Mahmoud Esseily stole the show until people were ready to start bidding on the luxury items.
