Additionally, WED is hosting its first annual Choose Women Wednesday on November 29, 2017 to celebrate and support women-owned businesses.
In Egypt, women entrepreneurs will be coming together at “Hanefra7 Biki Emta? The conference in collaboration with What Women Want… Magazine to celebrate, support, and empower women entrepreneurs in the region. May Abdel Asim, Founder of What Women Want…Magazine and Media & More, has been selected as the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Ambassador for 2016/2017 representing Egypt.
Abdel Asim will be launching a series of initiatives and campaigns in support of entrepreneurial development and support for women in Egypt. Established entrepreneur and leading businesswoman in her field, WED Ambassador Abdel Asim, brings together a host of experience and opportunity for innovation and development for women entrepreneurs.
“I am honored to be part of such an empowering movement and our “Hanefra7 Biki Emta” conference is one of the many ways to create change, empower women and spread the need for fostering entrepreneurship in Egypt. Statistically, women, when empowered, give back to their community, hence foster growth, so it must be a top priority”, said Abdel Asim.
“It’s an honor to be part of such a unique initiative. November 19th – which marks the global celebration and observance of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day –serves as a launch pad for ideas and business opportunities for the community as a whole. Celebrating, supporting and empowering women is vital for business and communities to flourish and grow,” commented Sarah Al Ayed. “Today we come together as a network to achieve success to help and support female entrepreneurs everywhere.”
The ambassadors have been working diligently to create events simultaneously with WED’s annual event which took place on Friday, November 17th at the United Nations in New York City where everyone came together to join WED’s mission in alleviating poverty by empowering, celebrating and supporting women in business worldwide.
“It’s inspiring to see women across the globe unite for a single cause,” said Wendy Diamond, Founder and President of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and WEDO World Ambassador. “By donating their time, effort and resources to Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, they are not only celebrating, supporting and empowering women in business in over 100 countries, but also contributing to global unification.”
November 29, 2017 witnesses the launch of the #ChooseWomen initiative; a directory that brings together women owned and led businesses in support of the WED mission to alleviate poverty by educating, empowering, celebrating, and supporting women in business worldwide.
“By utilizing the online global database of women-owned and led businesses together we can harness massive purchasing power in the name of supporting more women in business. This platform is also an international social media campaign – using the hashtag #ChooseWOMEN – invites buyers to support women-owned businesses and causes worldwide!” Stated Wendy Diamond, Founder President and World Ambassador of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.
In 2015, WED achieved record-breaking participation with over 35,000 participants worldwide. This year, the organization hopes to increase participation and create a global think tank of women leaders who will advocate for WED’s mission year round. Building on the mission to support, celebrate and empower women the goal in 2016 was supporting and funding of 100,000 women business via loans and mentorship opportunities globally.
WED ambassadors across the globe initiated programs and campaigns that identified funding and mentorship programs with regions adopting entrepreneurial support programs that showcased new business ventures in technology, food production, fashion, retail, environmental and educational enterprises being launched.
