On the occasion of the “Universal Children’s Day”, IKEA launched a series of children activities, including a child psychology workshop, children drawing competition; a storey-telling workshop and a huge mural painting. The activities launched under the theme “Let’s Play for Change”, as part of IKEA Good Cause Campaign.
Commenting on the campaign, Doaa Hashim, IKEA Family Manager said: “Let’s Play for Change” aims at raising awareness of children’s rights to play; and engaging people to become agents of change for this universal cause”.
“We are also excited to share IKEA Play Report for 2017. This year, the report highlights the importance of play for adults as well as children through key indicators: the emotional aspects of playing; the key drivers and inhibitors of play; as well as the emerging trends affecting the future of play”, Hashim added.
The workshop, which was presented by Child Psychologist Amina Diab, discussed the importance of ‘Play’ for children; its emotional, physical, psychological, social and cognitive impact. The workshop also discussed the ‘Social Influences on Genders in Play’; ‘Play Therapy’ and ‘Play and Technology’; using several engagement techniques with attending mothers including ‘Role Plays’, etc.
Invited by IKEA, 20 Children from Mansheyat Torrah also participated in the full-day events, including the children drawing competition, the story-telling workshop by Mai Abdel Hady; and coloring a huge mural showcasing Egypt’s qualification to the World Cup 2018.
