On (October 2nd), Flare PR organised the opening of couture designer Vivian Moawad’s flagship boutique in Cairo. The array of socialites, fashion influencers, stylists, celebrities and press in attendance, enjoyed a tight cocktail party to promote the newly opened story-book space.
A pair of white swings hang from the ceiling of the installation-esque window display featuring the designers latest creations. Behind the store’s high ceiling wooden doors you are met with a space so asymmetrical, that it only makes sense because it belongs to long time mother and lover of asymmetry Vivian Moawad.
Contrasting walls of raw white bricks draped with tulle and French lace curtains hang ever so randomly opposite to sleek white walls adorned with empty French Renaissance bronze frames.
Angel figurines peak above your head as you climb a twisted staircase, delivering a display of old and new collection pieces fluttering across the walls of the space in bird cage – like structures with a ball gown wedding dress taking main stage. The space could be more simply described as a blend of contemporary romanticism.
Although her main atelier and boutique remains in Alexandria, her birthplace and hometown, she chose to open her doors for the first time in the central neighborhood of Zamalek in Cairo because of its proximity to all major areas of the city and all her clients. Vivian wants her brand to be more accessible to all her clients nationwide, and this boutique will act as a facilitator.
The designer will remain at her headquarters in Alexandria, but will have her collections on display in Cairo in the new boutique, and will be taking haute couture appointments there.
Vivian’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, which was partially displayed at the opening of the store, is inspired by the Moulin Rouge. Expect to see a frenzy of lace, satin and feathers with frills, sparkly embellishments and lots of sequins. A snippet of her first ever Bridal capsule collection was also on display at the store opening.
A collection of 6 to 8 pieces that are very reflective of the stereotypical Vivian girl; basically a contemporary princess. The collection is comprised of modern asymmetrical dresses made of the finest tulle and lace. This collection is exclusively designed for the Cairo boutique only.
The boutique will also be housing four accessories brands, those are Hayden & Co. for fine bijoux, Misura for heels, Alia Khafaga also for fine bijoux, and Suki Designs for handbags.
